We are all creative beings.
Every choice we make from what to eat, how to dress, how to craft an email, how to decorate our home or plant our gardens, how to cook a meal, even how to choose our words (and thoughts).
Some of us may have ventured into the world with various art forms. Music, writing, painting, dancing, theater, you name it. We may still be putting our work out there, or maybe the desire to go public has faded away. Maybe that was never a goal, however creating is part of your personal + private practice. Perhaps you create for stress relief, for self-soothing, or even catharsis ~ to work through difficult emotions.
Perhaps you’ve found yourself in a time where you’re feeling blocked or stuck. The words aren’t coming out right. Maybe there is a relentless inner critic breathing down your neck and it feels painful to attempt to create something, anything, let alone put it out into the world. Or maybe you are someone who has always wanted to incorporate more creative practices in your life but have been afraid, didn’t know where to start or become overwhelmed, or you might have people around you that don’t support this desire for more color, sound, poetry, movement in your world.
NOW, more than EVER, we need each other to be expressing what is on our hearts.
Whether it be satiric cartoons, wacky florescent puppets, sorrowful ballads, black and white photos of ashtrays around the world, a wild and rageful teeth-baring dance ~
We NEED your unique expression to come forth
Even if only for your own grounding and self care
To bolster each other with creative acts of radical self-love + expression
in a time where conformity and homogeny is on the rise.
YOU ARE UNIQUE IN ALL OF TIME.
LET’S BREAK ON THROUGH THESE BLOCKAGES to the OTHER SIDE.
Dream it

A note from your host Mary Bue
Hi friends! I need this creative reboot so much right now, so I’ll be doing all of the practices right along with you, to the best of my ability! The first time I’ve explored Julia Cameron’s book The Artist’s Way was 2002 and have revisited many times since. Right now I’m working on writing a memoir about trauma and compassion, and I want to paint more! I’m feeling downtrodden by the music business and often fall prey to ego struggles and questions on my worth as an artist. It’s been a long and winding road, and if I can connect with fellow creatives and seekers for a few months to explore these practices, I think it will be medicine for the creative spirit, for me, and for you!
I’ve been a performing songwriter since 1998 and in February 2025 released my 9th album The Wildness of Living & Dying. I have gravitated towards being a DIY artist-entrepreneur for much of my adult life, albeit with a more than a few barista jobs + waiting thousands of tables. Have been teaching yoga since 2009, and recently co-founded a Yoga Alliance Registered Yoga School - Yojita Yoga - with my teacher Tara Cindy Sherman - with the ability now to certify registered yoga teachers and our first cohort is up and running! I owned a yoga studio called Imbue Yoga from 2016-2019 and when closing that launched a yoga and creativity retreat business and have hosted and co-hosted over 20 retreats around the world to date (from Grand Marais to Bali, Ireland, India, Italy, Malta)!
Musically, persevering! Have toured in over 40 states (mostly self-booked with time-frames of working with a few cool booking agents), have launched four successful Kickstarters (crowd-funding) for albums (most recent raised $15,000, which was a slightly terrifying ask). Applied for many artist grants to many rejections, and a few successes (thank you!) and was Artist in Residence in Florida at Escape To Create (2005) and in New Mexico at the Helene Wurlitzer Foundation of New Mexico (2017).
I’m a passionate advocate for survivors, as well as prevention, and awareness of the harms of sexual violence and was awarded Community Ally of the Year via PAVSA - Program for Aid to Victims of Sexual Assault. Have fundraised and performed at benefits for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, for farm sanctuaries, Planned Parenthood, Take Back the Night, and more. I believe in linking our expression with what we care about. There is so much to care about. And there is so much to create! Thanks for coming with me!
