Sarah (Sair) Foltz Jordan is a conservation biologist & educator based in Duluth, MN. She teaches a variety of natural history topics, mostly focused on wild edible mushrooms & plants, habitat restoration, and pollinator conservation. Having led Xerces Society’s Great Lakes monarch conservation efforts for 15 years, she is thrilled to have the chance to look at this species in a completely new light, as we bring people to witness and learn about the monarch in their sacred wintering grounds. On this trip, Sair will help us understand the monarch’s incredible metamorphosis and mind-boggling migration, along with what we can do to help them back home. An avid forager, Sarah will also be engaging us in various plant-centered activities, where we’ll connect with plants through observation, harvest, stewardship, and fiber arts. Sair’s bio, here.
Agua Blanca prides itself on being an excellent choice for those seeking ecotourism in Mexico. Agua Blanca is nestled amidst lush subtropical nature. All rooms overlook the verdant gardens.
The pools are filled with thermal-mineral water and come out at a pleasant 32°C.
Agua Blanca is located in the Jungapeo canyon. In Jungapeo, we enjoy two coexisting climatic zones. One is a subtropical microclimate that supports vegetation such as palm trees, citrus fruits, coffee, and bananas, while the other is semi-arid, which gives rise to cacti, succulents, and all kinds of other plants. This unique climate also allows us to observe all kinds of animals that, due to the almost pristine location, are still very well protected.
The rooms are simple, decorated with Michoacan crafts. Some have two double beds and others have a king bed, all have views of the gardens. The rooms maintain the style of the fifties and the bathrooms are all remodeled. We do not use televisions in the rooms, that is why we design spaces for coexistence and reflection outdoors. The real attraction of Agua Blanca is nature.
